Nothing makes me smile more than hearing from an old friend. And while Facebook makes it possible to stay up to date with friends and family from all over the world it’s so great to see each other in person from time to time. That was exactly what I was able to do with the Martin family recently. Jennifer and I have known each other since kindergarten! She was back in town with her family as was her sister so they decided it was time for an updated family portrait. We had to dodge some sprinkles and think warm thoughts but we were able to catch up a little and capture some lovely fall family portraits.

Autumn is family portrait time! There is nothing I love more than seeing my clients over the years and photographing them at their different stages of life. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to step in and see them again after their lives have grown and changed. The last time I photographed the Bacons was on their wedding day and now here we are a few years later and they have a darling little boy, Jackson, to chase after and keep up with.

Life goes by so quickly. Take it from me, make time for family portraits. Kids grow up. Family moves away. Loved ones leave our lives before we’re ready. Take the photos. Print the photos. And love on your family. It’s the only way to catch a save a tiny moment in time.

It is such a privilege to have the opportunity to photograph a family over the years and be present for those big, life event moments which is exactly what I was able to do with Eric & Ali. Several years ago I photographed Ali’s sister wedding and this autumn it was her turn to tie the knot. I was thrilled to share another special wedding day with Ali and her family. The wedding was at the beautiful St. Mark’s Catholic Church and the day couldn’t have been more perfect with wonderful weather and the couple so very much in love.

Congratulations Eric & Ali!

Love and Laughter.

If there were only two words I could use to describe Chris & Mandy’s wedding those would be it, love and laughter. As we were shooting their portraits I happily commented that Mandy was laughing in almost every image. She smiled and said, “That’s Chris. He is always making me laugh.” Chris not only kept Mandy laughing, he has to be the most expressive groom I’ve ever photographed 🙂 He is personality plus!

It was a gorgeous event from start to finish and you could just see the happiness and joy on the faces of all of their family and friends. Here’s to a lifetime of love and laughter! Congratulations Mandy & Chris!!
